Rankings & Results

How To Be Ranked

For players to be ranked in the open / junior rankings, they have to participate in STA-organised, sanctioned tournaments. Every tournament that players participate in will earn them points which attribute to their rankings. Points are awarded only when players reach a round in the main draw where points are available. The ranking points are accumulated from the previous 52 weeks.

Ranking Point Allocation System (OPEN / ADVANCE / INTERMEDIATE)

The points awarded for each round is as follows:

Winner Finalist S-Finalist Q-Finalist R16 R32 R64 R128
100 75 50 25 15 5 3 1
  • Points are only awarded to players in the main draw.
  • Any player who loses in the round of 128 players gets 1 point and 3 points in the round of 64 players and so on as indicated in the above table.
  • Any player who received a "bye" or " walkover" and loses in the second round shall receive only first round loser's points.
  • Any player who gives a "walkover" in the first round will not receive first round points.

Ranking Point Allocation System (JUNIOR)

The points available in each round will vary depending on the Age Group Category and the round reached. Points gained from competing in a higher Age Group will be added back to the player’s Ranking in his/her actual age group. Points gained from a player’s actual age group cannot be added to the other Ranking of higher age group that he/she competes in.

  • Players who miss a STA Junior tournament because they are representing Singapore in an overseas tournament sent by the STA will be awarded STA Junior Singles' ranking points equivalent to the average obtained over four (4) STA Junior tournaments of the previous 52 weeks.

  • Have acheived a WTA or a Top 50 NCAA ranking, but for reasons acceptable the rankings have lapsed and the player has been unable to play national or international touranments for a period of 12 months.
  • This ranking will not be taken into considerations for national touranment seedings or national team trials.
  • The sole purpose of this ranking is to potray a true potential of the player and assist him in participation in International tournaments.
  • Players requesting for the same must give adequate proof that they are in training and have intention to play international tournaments.
